Meet the Team

Al Taylor

Chairman of the board

Al is a husband, father of two sons, three grandsons, a Realtor and a believer in Jesus Christ.

Al got started with PBP more than 10 years ago by being asked to come help unload a truck. One truck became two and then three until Al became more interested in what PBP was doing with all these books. First, it was stamping books, then stocking shelves and now it’s packing boxes and serving as the Chairmen of the board of directors. Al says that when he started packing boxes that was the point he really started to understand the impact PBP was having on the lives of the prisoners that would read and study the Bibles and books we were sending out each week. Al recalls that on more than one occasion he would be packing boxes and someone would walk in off the street and say thank you for having sent books to a location they were incarcerated at. They said that seeing our red stamp in a book was a highlight in their day because they knew that the books with red stamps were books that would build them up.

If you ask Al if he is special for doing this, he would say… “No, I am just a person that sees a need in so many lives across this country and wants to help Prison Book Project meet that need.”

A Match Made in Heaven

Ray and Joyce have been close friends since 1997 when Ray contacted Joyce who was working at Destiny Image Publishers in Pennsylvania for a donation of books.  That fateful event was the start of a great friendship that later bloomed into a wonderful marriage.

Ray left Kentucky and joined the military when he was very young, he retired from the air force and settled down in Florida where he worked for and later retired from Martin Marietta, where he launched rockets. Ray started PBP in August 1994, after he realized the need for uplifting literature in the prison system and the great power it has to transform lives behind bars.

Joyce is born and raised in Pennsylvania, where she worked for over 18 years with a Christian publishing company.  When she left she was serving as Business Manager overseeing Accounting, Shipping and the IT departments.  She considers her years in publishing as training for PBP.

Ray’s first wife died in 2012. Not expecting to get married again he was surprised when God spoke to him one day and told him he was going to bring someone into his life to restore joy to him. He was even more surprised when that lady turned out to be Joyce.  Ray asked Joyce to marry him on her birthday in 2014. Twenty one days later on June 19th they were married.  Joyce left Pennsylvania to be with Ray in Florida and to help continue the growing ministry of PBP.  Together they have 5 children, 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.  They both work full time in the ministry together and are enjoying every moment of the journey God is leading them on.

My wife Joyce is the love of my life. Joined PBP many years ago not sure of when. I feel blessed to be a part of what God is doing in touching lives behind bars. I serve because I see the need to re-direct criminal minds and motives. My Inspiration is Proverbs 3:5-6

I came to Florida in 1966 to support NASA Public Affiars as a television technician. Formally worked at WHO-TV in Des Moines, Iowa. Served on the Board of Directors of Youth for Christ. Currently on the board of Prison Book Project and a Deacon at New Covenant Fellowship in Titusville, FLorida.

I have worked with the Prison Book Project since about 2000.  I was a replacement for a very dedicated Bruce Huston.  I was in the Retail Business all my live working for Marshall Fields in Chicago, Illinois, Service Merchandise in Illinois, and Helzberg Diamonds in a Suburb of Chicago, until my retirement.  I am now 77 and looking forward to many more years.  I served on a K - 8 Community School Board for 25 years, and enjoyed every minute of it. I am residing at the Great Outdoors community here in Titusville, Florida.  Look forward to every Wednesday morning when the group for the Great Outdoors Community Church lends their volunteer hands and backs to stamping books that are then provided to prisoners in over 2000 Prisons, plus the Overseas Military personnel.  I re-married a lady in 2008.  Both Joyce and I know that we were brought together, thanks to God.  We are both serious when we say that we are looking forward to our 25th Anniversary in 18 Years.

Joyce Hall is most famously known for being the mother of Kristen Hall and Ashton Kriner two of the most beautiful young ladies known to man.  She also has 3 grand children that really are quite wonderful too.  Once she reads this I will change it and put something more substantial here but if you are reading it she has yet to take the time to proof her own bio.

Love one of your two wonderful daughters!
